PSU Engineer

Based: Swindon, UK


To design, develop and source PSU technology and solutions for AceAxis products.

Main Tasks

To develop and maintain an in-house PSU.

Work closely with members of the layout and mechanical design team.

Participate in customer integration and support activities.

Drive innovation and cost efficient solutions in the business.

Develop test plans for internal product verification and verification of products at test houses.

Main Skills

Experience in custom high efficiency PSU design and be able to demonstrate the following areas:

Cost effectiveness
Architecture choice
Efficiency aspects
Stability/dynamic behaviour
Control and calibration

Experience in regulatory requirements and testing.

Ability and willingness to learn new skills/techniques.

The candidate would require a minimum of ten years experience in a directly comparable field.

The candidate must be willing to travel globally with minimal notice, including visits to customers/factories/Europe, China, South Korea as required.

PSU development required for cellular telecom applications, test and measurement products and potentially derivatives of these products could be used in more specialized markets.

Senior System Engineer

Based: Swindon, UK


To develop the architecture of AceAxis products to meet customer requirements in terms of functionality, performance and cost. Using extensive software and hardware knowledge to ensure product compliance against customer requirements.

Reporting to the Programme Leader, responsibilities will include specifying and ensuring the successful implementation of the hardware aspects of AceAxis products, specifically:

Defining requirements and specifications for AceAxis products; creating supporting high quality documentation including detailed design specifications; support in creation of presentation material and overview datasheets.

Supporting RFQ responses with the generation of compliance statements, BOM cost analysis, schedules and technical responses.

Performing the architectural design of AceAxis products in order to comply with the product specification and allow cost effective and efficient implementation by the development team. Creating detailed design specifications in liaison with internal or external design teams, which are realisable based on technology and cost constraints.

Performing RF system analysis as required to support creation of module specifications.

Supporting the implementation of modules and product integration through attending design reviews, reviewing design verification test results and assisting system integration team.

Aiding the AceAxis Technology Roadmap by identifying key technologies and working with R&D teams to define and lead technology developments.

The ideal candidate will have an Honours degree in Electronic Engineering or equivalent, and several years of commercial experience in a Systems Engineering role in the telecoms industry. A detailed understanding of customer requirements, commercial background and standards requirements e.g. 3GPP etc. is required, along with a comprehensive knowledge of RF/ microwave and systems.

Senior RF Design Engineer

Based: Swindon, UK


To carry out RF circuit design up to 6GHz – including testing, evaluation and documentation to agreed project timescales.

Must be competent in all aspects of RF circuit design, particularly of RF transceivers, with a strong focus on BOM and manufacturing costs.

Skilled in component evaluation and re-matching techniques to improve performance, and in the design and test methods used for the digital sections of a radio card.

Must have experience in RF test and measurement, and a good knowledge of RF and baseband integration.

Experience in LTE systems is an advantage.

Must have good communications skills and experience in writing technical reports.

The ideal candidate will have an Honours degree in a relevant technical discipline, with 5 years or more of industrial experience, and must be willing to travel globally (sometimes at short notice).

PCB Design and Component Engineer

Based: Swindon, UK


To deliver PCB design solutions, Product Data Management and Component Engineering.

Must be competent in High power RF PCB layout and mixed signal HDI designs comprising of >10 layers.

PCB Design

Generating Printed circuit board designs in support of project and customer requirements.  Must be skilled with Cadence design tool.  Knowledge of Altium design tool preferable.

Be instrumental in providing solutions for the application of innovative designs & keeping ahead of industry technical innovations.  Consider designs for lowest cost.

Be a key player in integrating Cadence with AceAxis PDM systems.

Generate component part numbers and library shapes for all new PCB parts. 

Generate product assembly BOM’s, assembly instructions etc. and follow formal version control procedures.

Liaise with MCAD engineers to ensure mechanical and thermal requirements are met.

Support DFX improvements and design reviews with design and EMS teams.

Manage effective change control of Part Number Database and PCB design enhancements.

Liaise with PCB vendors to resolve and document any technical front-end questions.

Liaise with Program manager to ensure customer (internal and external) prototype deliveries are delivered to plan.  Communicate pcb delivery progress.

Product Data Management

Provide BOM support to the team.  Generate new BOM’s and supporting documentation.

Review and generate ECR/ECO data, establish review meetings and applicable approvals.

Coordinate with the Program Managers & release new Changes to external suppliers and customers (drawings, specs, etc.)

Provide support with  Arena PDM system – Loading data and managing change approval and releases. Users’ logins, training and licence maintenance.

Assist with Quality processes & recommendations for improvement.

Component Engineering

Qualification of new Components.

Component coding.

Second Sourcing of New and Existing Components.

Component Compliance, RoHS, Material Substance Declaration, Hazardous Materials.

BOM Rationalisation.

Retrospective BOM Management.

Work Closely with all levels of the Engineering and Project Management teams.

Technical liaison with component vendors.

Input into program reviews in terms of the component status on an as required basis.

PDM (Arena) database component corrections, Updates and PCN (EOL) management.


Ongoing support of quality ISO internal procedures & ensuring teams adhere where required.

Ensure good health and safety practices are followed and report any potential incidents to the management team.

Advise opportunities for self-development where required.
