4G Test Radio

The AceAxis Radio Test System (RTSx4) is a powerful 19” Rack-based 4 channel wideband transceiver for Wireless system testing. It has been designed to operate as a mobile signal emulator for use with LTE eNode B base stations during test and conformance.

The RTSx4 offers flexible BTS connections communicating via CPRI. Internally there are two         2x2MIMO Radio entities, using their own unique IP addresses obtained via DHCP or set to the default static address. Each Radio has Ethernet control either via an RJ45 interface or via an Ethernet over CPRI channel.

5G Test Radio

5G networks demand even more exacting radios. AceAxis has responded with its 5G test radio designed to support OTA testing, millimetric (with the addition of RF mixer options) and sub 6GHz radio test.

The RTSx4 offers flexible BTS connections communicating, initially via CPRI (other options are available subject to demand and clarification on the version of standards used). Internally there are two 2x2MIMO Radio entities, using their own unique IP addresses obtained via DHCP, or set to the default static address. Each Radio has Ethernet control either via an RJ45 interface or via an Ethernet over CPRI channel.

PIM Forensics

For many years the telecoms industry has had good support for PIM test with IEC62037 compliant test solutions.

Unfortunately, these test solutions for PIM can only test a single RF band for PIM and require the cell site to be out of service for the duration of the test with the need to climb the tower and disconnect RF cables to test for PIM.

Modern telecoms networks suffer from increasing PIM problems due to ever-more-crowded RF bands, higher system loads and cross-sector PIM. AceAxis has developed a unique patented technology to address PIM testing in complex multiband 4 and 5G networks that is entirely passive and can measure PIM whilst the cell site is operating with measurements taken from the tower base or BBU hotel.

AceAxis PIM Detection products can accurately measure and locate PIM in live cell sites using a small portable test box that can be left at the cell site for long-term monitoring if needed. Using a simple GUI and easy to follow instructions we have simplified the test process to ensure that complex test conditions are easy to check quickly and cost-effectively.

AceAxis PIM Detection at its heart is a software algorithm processing I/Q information on the front haul interface. AceAxis has ported its IPR to multiple platforms. These platforms will enable even more PIM capability to be provided for example root cause analysis of PIM, estimation of potential PIM Cancellation possible and predictive modelling of the potential for PIM at the cell site.

PIM Analyser for antenna and filter testing

AceAxis’s new PIM Analyser offers class-leading performance and size for a multi-band PIM test solution.
AceAxis offer’s two software options within PIMPoint:
1- PIM Location:

Quickly and accurately locates PIM faults within the device under test (DUT), lowering the cost of repairs and providing high-quality fault information for process improvement purposes.

2- Multi-band/Multi-Port Antenna Test:

Salable solution accelerates test time by allowing all bands in a multi-band/multi-port antenna to be evaluated in a single test sequence.  This increases throughout lowers costs and also provides new measurement capabilities such as cross band PIM.

PIM Mitigation

If you can detect PIM you can mitigate PIM! At a high level a  correct statement, however, PIM is unpredictable and changeable depending upon the environment and prevailing network conditions. Whilst it might be perfectly feasible to deploy a PIM mitigation solution (and to be clear mitigation in this context means the removal of SOME of the prevalent PIM seen at a cell site) it is unlikely that all of the PIM can be removed at a cell site or indeed will it be possible to guarantee that any PIM removed from mitigation techniques will remain mitigated if conditions at the cell site change.

With this in mind, AceAxis firmly believes that any PIM mitigation strategy must start with a comprehensive and accurate assessment of the prevailing PIM at the cell site. AceAxis’s PIM detection solution has been designed specifically to provide the detail necessary to define next steps for PIM Mitigation. From an accurate survey, it is possible to quantify the exact PIM Mitigation possible under what conditions this mitigation will operate and critically an accurate assessment of the return on investment can be made.
