Thermal / Mechanical Design Engineer £Excellent

Reporting to the Senior Mechanical Engineer the successful candidate will be responsible for thermal analysis and mechanical design of remote radio head units
Specific responsibilities include:
- Generate thermal analysis model for complete units to predict the temperature of PCB assemblies and individual electronic components inside the unit.
- Overall Mechanical Design of radiohead and internal components
- Production of component drawings and models suitable for component manufacture, production of 3D assembly models and assembly instructions
- Support other project teams with thermal analysis input and provide solutions to reduce electronic component temperatures
Main skills required:
- Experience of thermal modelling of electrical / electronic assemblies and enclosures using thermal modelling software, preferably Ansys Icepak
- Experience of mechanical design of electronic enclosures or electro-mechanical products.
- Understanding manufacturing processes including sheet metal fabrication, machining and die casting or injection moulding.
- Knowledge of 3D CAD software, preferable Autodesk Inventor
- Liaise with ECAD engineers to ensure compatibility of electronic and mechanical interfaces
- Review of First Article Inspection (FAI) reports for component qualification
- BoM creation and management within a PDM system
- Understanding of stress calculations
- Understanding of Design for Manufacture and cost reduction activities
- Understanding of thermal design and calculations
- Customer and factory support
We will be looking for a good communicator with technical report and assembly instruction writing skills Due to the global nature of our business the successful candidate should be willing to travel at short notice
All candidates should have a technical degree with a minimum of three years industrial experience
